The Global Health Network's Twinning or Site Exchange programme aims to deliver targeted learning through an active participation and peer-mentoring approach.
This activity hones and focuses on systems level institutional mentoring. The twinning is structured so that a less experienced site might be paired with and mentored by a more experienced site from settings with contextually relevant challenges.
The example here is from a twinning programme run within the Africa Preparedness Network (ALERRT).
This twinning was proposed and actioned between IPM Madagascar and KEMRI-Wellcome Trust, Kilifi. The Madagascan team visited KEMRI-WT to learn about the setup and operation of the Kilifi Demographic Surveillance System (DSS).
Subsequently, to advance and apply this learning experience, two staff members (including a data manager and an epidemiologist) from KEMRI-WT made a reciprocal visit to IPM to provide further technical support in restructuring their fieldwork database and preparing for the next epidemiological survey in Madagascar.
Additionally, if you have experience running a Twinning Programme, or have tools to share, please get in touch with The Global Health Network team.
